随着生成式人工智能(generative AI)横空出世,在全球范围内掀起了有史以来规模最大的人工智能热潮。如今,生成式人工智能已然成为当今最炙手可热的前沿科技,它们在赋能高等教育的同时,也为高等教育的变革提供了无数的可能性,让我们对重新构想一个引领未来的高等教育充满期待。

In the current time, the emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked unprecedented enthusiasm across the globe. It stands at the forefront of technological advancement, both empowering and transforming higher education, offering myriad possibilities for reshaping future-leading educational systems. However, alongside these advancements, potential negative impacts of AI must also be addressed. Issues such as privacy breaches, data vulnerabilities, algorithmic bias, and compromised academic integrity pose significant risks to individual agency, student and faculty rights, educational equity, and potentially unpredictable systemic effects on higher education.

然而,我们也应警惕人工智能技术可能带来的负面影响,隐私泄漏、数据安全漏洞、算法偏见、学术诚信受损等等不仅可能损害人的主体性、师生权益和教育公平,还有可能给高等教育带来不可预估的系统性影响。人工智能赋能高等教育可能性的边界在哪里?高等教育的理想使命、社会责任、治理结构、教学和学习模式在多大程度上会因此得以变革?在技术进步的洪流中,如何重新审视和定位高等教育的价值和目的,如何重新思考“教育”的意义?在追求教育创新与进步的过程中,如何确保高等教育的公正性、伦理原则和人文关怀得到充分体现?面对科技革命所带来的挑战与机遇,大学教学与学习模式又将如何应变与适应?大学的科学研究会发生怎样的变化?大学的社会服务范式会面临什么机遇或挑战?这些核心问题亟待专家和学者的深入探讨、提供洞见,推动学术与实践领域的进一步发展。

In light of these challenges, critical questions arise: Where are the boundaries of possibility for AI-empowered higher education? Specifically, to what extent will it transform higher education institutions in terms of university vision and mission, social responsibility, governance structure, and teaching and learning modes? Amidst the tide of technological advancement, how should we reassess and reposition the value and purpose of higher education, and reconsider the meaning of “education”? In the pursuit of educational innovation and progress, how can we ensure that justice, ethical principles, and humanistic care are fully reflected in higher education? Facing the challenges and opportunities brought by the technological revolution, how will university teaching and learning models adapt? How will scientific research in universities change? What opportunities and challenges will arise for the social service paradigm of universities? These core questions urgently require in-depth discussion and insights from experts and scholars to further advance both academic theory and practical implementation.

在这一背景下,“2024清华高等教育论坛”契合时代发展的需求,拟邀请来自世界各地的大学、政府、企业的杰出学者与专家,共同探讨在人工智能时代下,全球高等教育的新使命、新挑战和新机遇。

In this context, the 2024 Tsinghua Higher Education Forum is strategically positioned to address contemporary challenges and opportunities. It invites leading scholars and experts worldwide from academia, government, and industry to deliberate on the evolving mission, pressing challenges, and valuable opportunities of global higher education in the AI era.
